Track Ad Positions With Adwords ValueTrack

AdWords ValueTrack is now able to provide information about the position of your ad with the {adpostion} parameter.

To use the parameter simply ad it to your destination URL as shown in the following example:

For a website called www.mysite.com the destination URL of your ad would be something like

http://www.mysite.com/?adplace={adposition}

When your ad receives a click the destination URL of the ad, as displayed in your server logs, will now contain information about position in place of the adposition tag. For example, the value of {adposition} will be displayed as 1t2 in your server logs if your ad appeared at the top of the first page in position 2 when it was clicked. Using the www.mysite.com example above,

http://www.mysite.com/?adplace={adposition}

becomes,

http://www.mysite.com/?adplace=1t2

If information about position can not be retrieved then “none” will be displayed in place of {adposition}.
